Job duties will encompass leadership in determining packaging specifications according to the nature of various products, cost limitations, quality & legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light heat, rough handling, and tampering. Oversee a team of engineers and other technical personnel that design packaging & material handling solutions to ensure safe storage, movement, and transport of items to end destinations. Lead individual contributors who are responsible for supporting all sites, programs, product line goals, and objectives through accurate reporting and problem-resolution methodologies. Conduct briefings and participate in program/ homeroom meetings with internal and/or external representatives concerning material, manufacturing, programmatic risks, and constraints. Interface with manufacturing supervision and site leadership to support program/site needs and process improvements initiatives. Create Basis of Estimates (BOEs) in support of Program proposal efforts that are aligned with PHS&T's statement of work and meeting cost, schedule, delivery, and affordability goals as it pertains to business objectives. Lead departmental root cause corrective action processes (RCCAs) as appropriate. Ensure employees adhere to departmental and supporting function's Principles and Operating Practices. Provide mentorship, coaching, and succession planning to ensure leadership readiness within the organization, training and guiding employees to ensure alignment with Northrop Grumman Leadership Values and Behaviors. Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain; OR a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain OR a High School diploma with 8 years of relevant experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain. Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team, process, and/or projects. Experience working with suppliers and procurement. Experience in managing the implementation and delivery of engineering solutions in support of Government customers. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance and Program Special Access within a reasonable amount of time after hired date, as determined by the Company to meet its business requirements. Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Knowledge of 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) & International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements. Knowledge of design techniques & principles utilizing 3D/2D Computer-Aided Design (CAD), CATIA, NX, or similar software within aerospace and/or other similar industrial industries. Detailed understanding of various methods of parts protection and shipment of equipment via land, air, & sea. Active DoD Secret level clearance with Special Program Access.
