The Explosives and Pyrotechnics (Advanced Energetic Solutions) engineering manager directs a high performing team of approximately 13 individuals who create innovative methodologies to solve complex engineering challenges related to energetic materials. They implement solutions to designs and analyses that reduce lifecycle costs. The manager is also responsible to: mentor and bring out the best in each team member, help them meet and overcome challenges and progress in their careers, help them feel personal satisfaction in their accomplishments, and convey and implement department and corporate expectations. Direct engineering methodology and maintenance tasks for team Direct explosives and pyrotechnics activities and coordinate efforts across PS to include energetic synthesis, formulation, scale-up and storage/handling Coordinate Team tasks, budgets, and schedules with program managers, IR&D leadership, project engineers, and others in PS Oversee Team member workloads and task progression and completion Mentor Team members in personal growth and career development Lead and document periodic formal and informal performance reviews and determine merits and promotions Review and update standard work requirements and guidelines B.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline and 8 years experience, M.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline with 6 years experience, or a PhD. Degree in an engineering or science discipline and 4 years experience. Experience with energetic materials and scale-up processes / safety protocols. Experience with binder chemistry for cast cure and pressed explosives. Working knowledge and/or experience across multiple engineering disciplines and their interactions Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance Must be a U.S. Citizen. Prior experience in technical leadership of energetic developments, pyrotechnics, or solid propellant rocket motor development / qualification efforts. Project Engineering and or Program Management experience managing schedule, scope, and cost Current active Security Clearance Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Experience with anomaly investigations identifying cause and corrective actions Experience with proposal and pricing efforts supporting production programs Prior experience in engineering functional management is a plus Life Insurance Employee Assistance Programs & Work/Life Solutions Paid Time Off Health & Wellness Resources Employee Discounts Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
