Role Overview

The Nuclear Pharmacy Technician position at Cardinal Health in Seattle, WA, offers a unique opportunity to work in a specialized field handling radiopharmaceuticals. This full-time role involves 40 hours per week on a Monday-Thursday 2:00am-10:30am and Friday 1:00am-9:30am shift, with holiday and on-call rotations (minimum twice monthly). Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you'll ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting critical medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician, your role is pivotal in maintaining the safety and efficacy of radiopharmaceutical distribution. Core duties include:

  • Preparing prescriptions by typing labels and securing Staff Pharmacist approval.
  • Drawing precise doses into syringes or vials.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per Federal, State, Company, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Receiving, documenting, and storing incoming/outgoing pharmaceuticals according to Department of Transportation and company standards.
  • Maintaining accurate computer inventory and records for Rx drugs.
  • Assisting in labeling blood cell products and performing lab/facility clean-up.
  • Handling clerical tasks like record maintenance, billing, and report preparation.
  • Making deliveries to accounts using company vehicles.
  • Addressing customer questions via telephone with strong service skills.

All work occurs under close supervision, with deviations approved by supervisors, ensuring precision in this regulated nuclear environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, candidates need:

  • WA State Pharmacy Technician license (required).
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (required).
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
  • Previous Pharmacy Technician experience (highly preferred); IV experience a plus.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and minimum age of 18.
  • Ability to lift/manage up to 75 pounds.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks, technology (computers, smartphones, tablets), and nuclear environments.
  • Shift flexibility preferred.
