As a Senior Software Engineer in Core Identity (Auth0), you'll design, build, and operate mission-critical authentication pipelines, identity protocols, and user sessions that power over 100 million daily logins worldwide. This role is at the heart of Okta's Auth0 platform, tackling complex distributed systems challenges at global scale using Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis on AWS and Azure. Your work ensures secure, resilient identity and access management (IAM) for developers and organizations innovating securely. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement scalable backend services in Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript) for authentication pipelines and identity protocols. • Own technical quality, security, reliability, and scalability of core systems, driving architectural improvements and best practices. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, Design, Architecture, and QA teams to deliver customer-delighting features. • Build innovative features extending Auth0's platform capabilities for global organizations in identity and access management. • Mentor engineers, contribute to technical excellence, and participate in on-call rotation for mission-critical services. • Deepen expertise in distributed systems, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), and modern identity security standards. What We're Looking For: • 4+ years of professional software development experience building backend services with Node.js (JavaScript or TypeScript). • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in multi-cloud environments like AWS and Azure. • Proficiency with data stores including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis for high-scale identity applications. • Strong commitment to quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies. • Product-oriented mindset with passion for identity and access management (IAM) or related security domains.
