As a Staff Software Engineer in Core Infrastructure, you'll design, build, and scale cloud-native shared services like search, cache, and async job frameworks that power Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud. Your work ensures redundancy, multi-tenancy, and resiliency at massive scale for over 17,600 customers and 500 million users. This role is pivotal in keeping Okta "Always On!" while driving infrastructure innovation on AWS, Kubernetes, and modern tech stacks. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects using Redis, Docker, Terraform on AWS • Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of new common microservices to support Okta's growing platform • Operate, support, upgrade, and scale shared services like configuration management, email pipelines, and async frameworks as usage expands • Conduct design and code reviews, enforce high standards with unit and functional tests for backend services • Monitor, troubleshoot, fix services, evaluate performance, and resolve bottlenecks in high-scale environments • Provide technical guidance, mentorship to junior developers, and collaborate with architects, QA, security, and operations What We're Looking For: • 7+ years expansive programming experience in Java backend services with superior multithreading, garbage collection, memory management • 3+ years experience with MySQL relational databases, including design and query fine-tuning • 3+ years developing, operating, optimizing web services on Kubernetes, preferably AWS EKS or GCP • Demonstrated ReST experience with fundamentals; gRPC knowledge a plus, plus Spring Boot, Hibernate, Tomcat • Experience with AWS, Redis, Docker, network security, authentication, authorization; Bachelor's in CS or equivalent, Master's preferred What We Offer: • Competitive compensation with equity and benefits • Health, dental, vision insurance and 401(k) matching • Flexible PTO, parental leave, and professional development • Hybrid work options and inclusive, collaborative culture Okta is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
