Join Okta's Fine-Grained Authorization (FGA) Core team as a Staff Software Engineer to architect and optimize a high-availability, multi-region SaaS platform powering Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC) for complex permissions at massive scale. You'll drive millisecond-level p99 latencies and millions of QPS through advanced graph theory, distributed caching, and relentless performance tuning in our Auth0 platform. This role is pivotal for securing identity and access management (IAM) solutions that enable customers to model intricate authorization rules beyond traditional models. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, performant, secure authorization solutions using ReBAC and graph-based models • Architect FGA platform for extreme performance, guaranteeing millisecond p99 check latencies and horizontal scalability for millions of QPS • Lead deep design, benchmarking, and optimization of core data models, query paths, and distributed caching strategies • Write clean, efficient Go code, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding best practices for low-latency systems • Diagnose and resolve issues in authorization systems to ensure reliability, performance, and security at scale • Mentor junior engineers, document features comprehensively, and participate in on-call rotations for high availability What We're Looking For: • 8+ years professional software engineering experience focused on distributed systems and high-performance algorithms • 3+ years designing, implementing, and optimizing production-grade low-latency applications with high throughput • Deep expertise in advanced graph theory, set theory, Boolean algebra applied to large-scale systems • Expertise in Go programming language, AWS cloud platforms, and performance optimization including Big O notation • Strong knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) principles, plus excellent analytical problem-solving skills What We Offer: • Competitive compensation with equity, bonus, and benefits tailored to Canadian candidates • Health, dental, vision insurance, RRSP matching, healthcare spending, and telemedicine • Flexible PTO, parental leave, and professional development opportunities • Inclusive, collaborative culture in asynchronous remote environment with Toronto presence Okta is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
