As a Staff Software Engineer, Indexer on the Auth0 team, you'll design and build scalable indexing systems for Fine Grained Authorization (FGA), powering relationship-based access control (ReBAC) at global scale. Your work will solve complex authorization challenges using event sourcing, CDC, and gRPC streaming, ensuring low-latency traversal of DAGs and trees for high-availability SaaS. This role drives Okta's identity platform forward, making secure access management reliable for millions of users worldwide. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure authorization solutions with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS for multi-region high availability • Partner with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to deliver customer-focused software meeting strict performance and security requirements • Solve complex authorization challenges at scale using event sourcing, change data capture (CDC), gRPC streaming, leader election, and backpressure handling • Write clean, efficient Go code leveraging concurrency primitives like channels and goroutines, perform code reviews, and optimize for memory and GC tuning • Diagnose and resolve issues in distributed systems, refactoring for reliability, performance, observability, and security in data-intensive environments • Mentor junior engineers, create comprehensive documentation, participate in on-call rotations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives What We're Looking For: • 8+ years of backend experience in data-intensive systems with deep Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS expertise for reliability and observability • Proven design of high-availability systems using event sourcing, CDC, gRPC streaming, leader election, backpressure, and distributed consistency • Expertise modeling complex relationships like DAGs and trees, optimizing traversal algorithms, and understanding database internals for low latency • Strong Go proficiency including concurrency primitives (channels, goroutines), memory tuning, GC optimization, and high-throughput workloads • Comfort in asynchronous, remote environments with proactive communication, clear documentation, and fostering continuous improvement What We Offer: • Competitive compensation with equity, bonus, and benefits tailored to Canadian candidates • Health, dental, vision insurance, RRSP matching, healthcare spending, and telemedicine • Flexible PTO, parental leave, and professional development opportunities • Inclusive, collaborative culture with hybrid work options in Toronto Okta is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
