As a Staff Software Engineer, Security in Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud Security Engineering group, you'll design and develop security solutions to harden frameworks and infrastructure against OWASP Top 10 threats. This high-impact role drives defense-in-depth measures, enforces least privilege, and influences the security roadmap in a fast-paced environment with weekly releases. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement security frameworks for distributed systems using Java, focusing on authentication, authorization, and cryptography. • Mitigate OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, conduct secure code reviews, and integrate Test-Driven Development and Secure SDLC practices. • Act as liaison between Security and Engineering orgs to define innovative security roadmap requirements and evangelize best practices. • Develop and own security features for cloud services like AWS and GCP, ensuring no friction to product performance or functionality. • Troubleshoot production issues in RDBMS like MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch to maintain reliability, security, and performance. • Research emerging technologies, propose new projects, and maintain technical documentation including architecture docs and cookbooks. What We're Looking For: • 7+ years developing highly reliable Java systems for mission-critical software. • 3+ years designing security solutions for applications and distributed systems. • Expertise in OWASP Top 10 mitigation, Application Security, Cryptography, RBAC/ABAC. • Strong knowledge of Secure SDLC, threat modeling, secure code reviews, and cloud providers AWS/GCP. • Experience with MySQL replication/clustering, Redis, Elasticsearch, and production troubleshooting.
