As a Technical Program Manager on the Infrastructure Strategy & Delivery team, you'll coordinate datacenter deployments with external partners, ensuring projects launch on time and meet ambitious AI compute goals. From site selection in locations like Shackelford, Texas; Santa Teresa, New Mexico; or Saline, Michigan, to rack manufacturing ramps and commissioning, your work directly powers OpenAI's mission to advance artificial general intelligence safely.

You'll interface with executives, architects, engineers, and construction firms, establishing SLAs, tracking budgets, and delivering executive reports that keep multi-billion-dollar projects on track. Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will be dynamic and high-impact:

• Drive partner performance against commercial SLAs, construction schedules, and compute-deployment commitments for Stargate datacenters.
• Act as the primary liaison with external development and operations teams for contract alignment, risk escalation, and executive-level reporting.
• Proactively de-risk deployments by pinpointing critical path items, early blocker identification, and cross-team mitigation strategies.
• Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders (engineering, strategy, operations) and external partners for seamless decision-making.
• Deliver pre-construction expertise during approvals, setting industry-benchmarked timelines, benchmarks, and governance structures.
• Orchestrate rack manufacturing scale-ups, tracking production, shipping, quality assurance, and site integration milestones.
• Lead end-to-end program management from pre-con to commissioning, encompassing forecasting, budget oversight, document control, and C-suite updates.
• Harmonize milestones across the vendor ecosystem—architects, engineers, suppliers, contractors—while rigorously maintaining risk registers.
• Champion site-readiness through delivery logistics, turnover protocols, and handover preparations.
• Monitor material readiness, design compliance, and commissioning timelines to prevent delays in AI supercomputer rollout.
• Provide structured insights via dashboards, forecasts, and reports to guide strategic infrastructure decisions.
• Collaborate on broader ecosystem initiatives, influencing OpenAI's datacenter strategy and partner selection.
• Escalate and resolve issues swiftly, ensuring projects stay within scope, budget, and timeline parameters.

Expect 3-5 days/week onsite at key build locations to maintain hands-on oversight.

Qualifications

We're looking for battle-tested leaders who excel in chaos:

• Bachelor's in construction management, engineering, or related field (advanced degrees preferred).
• 7+ years in construction/project management, with deep datacenter or hyperscale infra experience.
• Track record managing complex technical programs involving multi-stakeholder ecosystems.
• Proven ability to lead large teams and influence senior executives across organizations.
• Expertise in risk management, critical path method (CPM) scheduling, and de-risking strategies.
• Strong grasp of datacenter lifecycle: design, procurement, construction, commissioning.
• Experience enforcing SLAs, vendor contracts, and performance metrics in high-stakes environments.
• Skilled in tools like MS Project, Asana, Jira, or Primavera for program tracking.
• Excellent communicator for technical-commercial bridges and executive presentations.
• Analytical mindset for budget forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario planning.
• Travel willingness (up to 50%) to sites in TX, NM, MI.
