Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll dive into the day-to-day operations of natural gas facilities, supporting safe and efficient performance. Responsibilities vary by business needs, location, and your skills but typically include:

  • Technical Training and Support: Train in electrical, instrumentation, and controls (I/E); provide I/E support and perform transmitter calibrations.
  • Field Operations: Participate in flow path training, complete line locations, pigging, valve maintenance, daily rounds, and readings within the gathering system.
  • Mechanical Tasks: Build mechanical knowledge through preventative maintenance, compliance activities, general cleaning of facilities/assets, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Safety and Documentation: Assist with tasks to safely maintain equipment, collaborate on solutions to technical problems, acquire knowledge of safe operations, and complete assigned reports, logs, and accurate records.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with operations teams to protect the community, personnel, environment, and assets while following all safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current enrollment and completion of at least one semester in an approved program: Electronics Technician, Industrial Electronics Technology - Electronics, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, or Mechanical Technician at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC), Central Virginia Community College (CVCC), or Virginia Western Community College.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, enclosed spaces; carry/lift up to 50 lbs individually or team lift heavier loads; stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, squat for extended periods; work at elevated heights using PPE, man lifts, ladders, scaffolding; and use hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a commitment to safety.
