Position Summary

The Operations Intern - Palmetto position offers a 10-12 week immersive program designed as your launchpad into the energy sector. This hands-on internship provides real-world experience in natural gas operations, technical skills development, and exposure to industry leaders. Day in the Life

Expect a mix of training and hands-on tasks: from electrical and instrumentation support to mechanical maintenance and compliance activities. You'll participate in flow path training, perform transmitter calibrations, complete line locations, pigging operations, valve maintenance, and daily facility rounds. This role builds foundational skills while contributing to the safe, efficient operation of gathering systems and assets.

Key Responsibilities

As an Operations Intern, you'll dive into critical tasks that support facility operations:

  • Assist with safely maintaining equipment and collaborating on technical/operational problem-solving.
  • Acquire knowledge of safe facility operations, protecting community, personnel, environment, and assets.
  • Complete assigned reports, logs, and accurate records of process operations and preventative maintenance.
  • Train in electrical, instrumentation, controls; provide I/E support and perform transmitter calibrations.
  • Conduct line locations, pigging, valve maintenance, daily rounds, and readings in the gathering system.
  • Build mechanical knowledge through maintenance, compliance, and general facility cleaning.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business needs, location, and your skills.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet these essential criteria:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current enrollment and completion of one semester in the Construction and Manufacturing program at Manatee Technical College; Architecture and Construction, Energy program, Manufacturing program at Fort Myers Technical College, or equivalent accredited technical institution.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

This hands-on role demands physical capability:

  • Work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, and enclosed spaces.
  • Carry/lift up to 50 lbs individually; team lift heavier loads.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, squat for extended periods.
  • Work at elevated heights using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, towers with PPE.
  • Use hand tools proficiently.
