Sonoco's Gastonia, NC plant seeks a skilled Winder Operator I for second shift (3pm-11pm). Earn $21.79/hr in this full-time role focused on machine setup, monitoring, and production of high-quality tubes. Primary duties include loading paper, adjusting adhesives and winders, performing quality checks, and maintaining equipment in a safety-first environment.
Key tasks include following safety rules, loading and threading paper plies, starting and adjusting the winder, monitoring cut-off and delivery, splicing, lubrication, quality checks (parent stick, skiving, printing), cleaning machines, filling ink reservoirs, completing production paperwork, and preventative maintenance like cleaning glue scrapers and checking winding belts. Report incidents immediately and perform other duties as assigned.
Candidates need ability to read gauges, interpret instructions in English, evaluate paper/glue quality, use hand tools/measuring devices, and operate control panels. Physical demands: stand/walk extended periods, lift 50 lbs, bend/stoop/reach/climb ladders under 10 ft, maneuver paper rolls. Color discernment required for printing tasks.
