Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Consulting Member of Technical Staff (IC5) with deep expertise in distributed systems and security engineering to join our Security Platform team in Seattle, WA.

In this role, you will design and architect critical components of our security platform, take ownership as tech lead for system design initiatives, and drive the delivery of scalable, secure solutions.

This is an individual contributor position at the IC5 level, offering the opportunity to influence strategic technical decisions and collaborate with top-tier engineering talent on high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design distributed security systems that scale to handle millions of requests per second with high availability and low latency.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance on system architecture for the security platform team.
  • Develop and prototype core components of security services, including authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to define requirements and translate them into robust technical implementations.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and security posture through rigorous testing and monitoring strategies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to uphold Oracle's engineering standards.
  • Investigate and resolve complex production issues in distributed environments, implementing preventive measures.
  • Drive innovation by researching emerging security threats and integrating advanced technologies into our platform.
  • Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
  • Contribute to open-source projects or internal tools that enhance the security platform's capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in security engineering principles, including identity management, access control, and cryptography.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, or C++.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., OCI, AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience debugging complex, large-scale systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar enterprise cloud environments.
  • Deep knowledge of security standards (e.g., OAuth, SAML, Zero Trust) and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, GDPR).
  • Prior experience as a tech lead or architect in a security-focused product team.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark) for security analytics.
  • Contributions to open-source security projects or relevant publications.
