Position Overview

Oracle is seeking a Critical Facility Technician - Electrical to join our Data Center Facilities Engineering Team in Abilene, TX.

The Critical Facility Technician - Electrical will be a key member of the operations team, tasked with the operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems and related critical infrastructure.

Candidates should have extensive experience in electrical systems, power distribution, automation technologies, and safety protocols, ensuring maximum reliability, efficiency, and safety in critical environments.

This role demands a proactive approach to troubleshooting and a deep understanding of high-availability systems in a 24/7 data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain electrical distribution systems, including UPS, generators, PDUs, and transformers to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on critical electrical infrastructure to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues using diagnostic tools, schematics, and multimeters to resolve faults swiftly in high-stakes environments.
  • Monitor power quality, load balancing, and environmental controls through SCADA and BMS systems for optimal performance.
  • Execute planned and emergency electrical switchgear operations, lockout/tagout procedures, and arc flash mitigation protocols.
  • Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment and upgrades while adhering to NEC, NFPA 70E, and Oracle safety standards.
  • Collaborate with facilities engineers and vendors to implement system improvements and capacity expansions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and inventory using CMMS tools.
  • Respond to critical incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct safety audits, training sessions, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance within data centers, critical facilities, or industrial environments.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification (e.g., Master Electrician).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and control systems including 480V/3-phase systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment such as infrared thermography, power quality analyzers, and insulation testers.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPS systems, diesel generators, and ATS in mission-critical operations.
  • Understanding of safety protocols including NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), PLC programming, or automation controls.
  • Certification in critical power systems (e.g., EPCRA, CDT) or data center operations (e.g., Uptime Institute).
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Proven track record in predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
