Position Overview

Oracle is seeking a Critical Facility Technician - HVAC to join our Data Center Facilities Engineering Team in NM, United States. As a key member of the operations team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related critical infrastructure. This role demands extensive experience in HVAC systems, climate control technologies, automation, and safety protocols to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency, and safety in our high-stakes data center environments. You will play a vital role in maintaining uptime and supporting Oracle's mission-critical cloud services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor HVAC systems, including chillers, CRAC units, air handlers, and cooling towers, to maintain optimal environmental conditions in the data center.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment, ensuring 99.99%+ uptime for critical infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC system failures, implementing rapid resolutions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and performance testing of climate control systems, documenting results and recommending improvements.
  • Integrate and calibrate HVAC automation controls, BMS (Building Management Systems), and SCADA systems for efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with facilities engineers and vendors to execute system upgrades and expansions.
  • Enforce safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, and refrigerant handling in compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Analyze energy consumption data to optimize HVAC efficiency and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system logs, and inventory using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Respond to on-call emergencies, providing 24/7 support for HVAC-related incidents.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in HVAC, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC maintenance and operations within critical facilities or data centers.
  • Universal EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems including centrifugal chillers, VRF systems, and precision cooling units.
  • Proficiency with building automation systems (BAS), PLCs, and control logic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electrical systems up to 480V, motors, VFDs, and pumps.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from NEBB (National Environmental Balancing Bureau) or similar in air balancing and testing.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Familiarity with DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Knowledge of LEED certification standards and energy-efficient HVAC practices.
  • Previous experience in a mission-critical facility with SLAs for 100% cooling redundancy.
