Position Overview

Oracle is launching an exciting new data center in Berlin, Germany, and we're seeking a Data Center Field Support Specialist to join our newly formed team. In this hands-on role, you will handle the design, operation, racking, stacking, hardware troubleshooting, and break/fix activities essential to ensuring seamless data center operations. Key Responsibilities

• Perform racking, stacking, cabling, and de-racking of servers, storage, and networking equipment in the data center.
• Execute hardware break/fix activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and component replacements to minimize downtime.
• Support data center design and operational processes, ensuring compliance with Oracle's standards and best practices.
• Conduct routine inspections, inventory management, and asset tagging for all data center hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to power, cooling, and environmental systems within the facility.
• Collaborate with remote engineering teams to deploy new hardware configurations and perform upgrades.
• Maintain detailed documentation of all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities using Oracle's tracking systems.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to provide rapid response to critical incidents.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, data center security procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in capacity planning and optimization efforts to support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure growth.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, field support, or hardware technician roles.
• Proficiency in server racking, cabling, and hardware installation for enterprise-grade equipment.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and networking basics.
• Experience with hardware diagnostics, break/fix procedures, and troubleshooting tools.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50kg) and work in physically demanding environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Fluency in English; German language skills preferred for local communication.
• Availability for shift work, including nights and weekends, and on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in data center operations (e.g., CDI, Uptime Institute) or hardware (e.g., CompTIA A+, Server+).
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, hyperscale data centers, or similar environments.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems administration and basic scripting.
• Previous exposure to automation tools for inventory and asset management.
• Knowledge of European data protection regulations (GDPR) and safety standards.
