Position Overview

As a Database Administrator 4-IT (SRE/Database Administrator) at Oracle, you will join a world-class team responsible for building and managing Oracle databases and Exadata Infrastructure across production, non-production, on-premises, and virtual machine environments in OCI.

You will perform complex issue investigations, capacity management, scripting, and automation to ensure high availability and performance of critical systems.

This role involves triaging database alerts, managing standby databases and Golden Gate replication, mentoring team members, and facilitating communication with leadership, clients, and peers in a dynamic, enterprise-wide environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and manage Oracle databases and Exadata Infrastructure for production and non-production environments on-premises and in OCI VMs.
  • Perform complex issue investigations, triage database alerts, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct capacity planning and management to optimize database performance and resource utilization across enterprise systems.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation, monitoring, and routine database administration tasks.
  • Manage, maintain, and support non-production and production standby databases, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Administer Oracle Golden Gate for replication, including setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on best practices and technical challenges.
  • Facilitate effective communication with leadership, clients, and cross-functional peers to align on priorities and resolutions.
  • Identify and pursue automation opportunities to streamline operations and enhance system reliability.
  • Collaborate on disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for mission-critical databases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator managing Oracle databases in enterprise environments.
  • Proven expertise with Oracle Exadata Infrastructure, including deployment, patching, and optimization.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including VM management and database services.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Golden Gate for replication, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced skills in SQL, PL/SQL, scripting (Bash, Python), and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools, alerting systems, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure production incidents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or higher certification in database administration.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and tools like Terraform or Ansible for infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Autonomous Database and advanced OCI features.
  • Knowledge of high-availability clustering, RAC, and Data Guard configurations.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring teams and leading technical initiatives.
