Position Overview

The Director of Security Architecture will lead the strategic design and implementation of security architectures for Oracle's SaaS portfolio, ensuring robust protection of cloud-based services against evolving threats.

This role reports to the VP of SaaS Security and collaborates with engineering, product, and compliance teams to embed security into every layer of our SaaS offerings.

Based in the United States, the position offers a hybrid work model and plays a pivotal role in safeguarding Oracle's reputation as a trusted cloud provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive security architectures for Oracle's SaaS platforms, aligning with industry standards like NIST, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP.
• Lead the evaluation and integration of advanced security technologies, including zero-trust models, encryption frameworks, and threat detection systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design secure-by-default SaaS features and mitigate risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for new SaaS initiatives, prioritizing high-impact vulnerabilities and recommending remediation strategies.
• Define and enforce security architecture standards, policies, and best practices across Oracle's cloud infrastructure and multi-tenant environments.
• Mentor and guide a team of security architects, fostering expertise in cloud-native security and emerging threats like AI-driven attacks.
• Partner with compliance and audit teams to ensure SaaS architectures meet regulatory requirements and support customer certifications.
• Drive security architecture roadmaps, presenting strategic recommendations to executive leadership and influencing enterprise-wide security investments.
• Respond to security incidents by analyzing root causes and enhancing architectural defenses to prevent recurrence.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, representing Oracle at security conferences and contributing to thought leadership in SaaS security.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years focused on security architecture in cloud or SaaS environments.
• Proven track record leading security architecture for large-scale, multi-tenant cloud platforms.
• Deep expertise in cloud security technologies, including AWS, OCI, Azure, identity management (IAM), and container security (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks, threat modeling methodologies, and secure SDLC practices.
• Experience with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS in enterprise settings.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or AWS Certified Security Architect.
• Experience architecting security for high-volume SaaS applications serving Fortune 500 customers.
• Familiarity with AI/ML security considerations and securing generative AI workloads in cloud environments.
• Previous experience in a Big Four consulting firm or leading security at a hyperscale cloud provider.
• Published research or speaking experience in SaaS security architecture.
