Position Overview

As Director of Software Development, you are a leader of leaders responsible for the strategic direction, outcomes, and culture of our Next-Generation CI/CD Platform organization. You drive impact across multiple teams and managers (including Senior Engineering Managers), amplifying leadership, fostering innovation, and building an engineering foundation. Your focus is on long-term vision, organization design, strategic influence, and creating the conditions for teams and leaders to thrive. This role is available in Seattle, WA, Austin, TX, or Nashville, TN only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the long-term technical vision and strategy for the Next-Generation CI/CD Platform, aligning with Oracle's broader cloud objectives
  • Lead and mentor a team of Senior Engineering Managers and their respective teams, fostering a high-performance culture of innovation and accountability
  • Design and evolve the organizational structure to scale engineering teams effectively while maintaining agility and excellence
  • Drive strategic initiatives that influence cross-functional partnerships with product, design, and operations teams
  • Champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD pipeline optimization, automation, and developer experience enhancements
  • Measure and improve key outcomes such as delivery velocity, system reliability, and team satisfaction across the organization
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to secure resources, prioritize roadmaps, and mitigate risks for platform development
  • Build and nurture a diverse, inclusive engineering culture that attracts top talent and promotes continuous learning
  • Represent the organization in high-level technical discussions and contribute to Oracle's thought leadership in DevOps and CI/CD
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and performance management for multiple engineering teams

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 8 years in leadership roles managing multiple teams and managers
  • Proven track record of leading CI/CD platform development or large-scale DevOps initiatives in a cloud environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Deep expertise in modern CI/CD tools, pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure)
  • Strong experience in organizational design, scaling engineering teams, and driving cultural transformation
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and align technical strategy with business goals
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to executives and large audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering organizations at hyperscale or enterprise software companies
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar enterprise cloud services
  • MBA or equivalent experience in technical leadership and business strategy
  • Published contributions to open-source CI/CD projects or industry-recognized thought leadership
  • Experience with AI/ML integration in DevOps pipelines or autonomous operations
