Position Overview

The Facility Operations Center (FOC) Network Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the seamless operation of our Data Center Campus in Abilene, TX. You will monitor critical facility infrastructure, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), while managing alarms, troubleshooting network issues, and escalating incidents to prevent downtime. As the first point of contact for facility and network incidents, you will ensure the highest levels of security, reliability, and performance in a 24/7 high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor real-time network performance and facility systems, including BMS and EPMS, to detect anomalies and prevent disruptions across the data center campus.
  • Respond to alarms and incidents promptly, performing initial troubleshooting and root cause analysis for network and facility-related issues.
  • Escalate critical incidents to on-site teams or vendors while documenting resolution steps in the incident management system.
  • Maintain and optimize network infrastructure supporting FOC operations, ensuring high availability and low latency.
  • Perform routine health checks, system validations, and preventive maintenance on monitoring tools and network devices.
  • Collaborate with data center operations teams to implement changes, updates, and firmware upgrades with minimal impact.
  • Generate reports on system performance, incident trends, and reliability metrics for leadership review.
  • Enforce security protocols for network access and facility systems to protect against unauthorized intrusions.
  • Support 24/7 on-call rotations to ensure continuous coverage for mission-critical operations.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and lessons learned to enhance operational knowledge base.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, operations, or data center facility monitoring roles.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar).
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Proficiency in real-time monitoring platforms and alarm management systems.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing downtime in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication skills for incident reporting and cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience in large-scale data center environments or cloud infrastructure operations.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming, or industrial control networks.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar hyperscale cloud platforms.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
