Position Overview

The Facility Operations Center (FOC) Network Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the seamless operation of our Data Center Campus in NM, focusing on critical facility infrastructure such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). This position involves real-time monitoring, proactive alarm management, and rapid incident escalation to prevent downtime and uphold operational excellence. As the first point of contact for network and facility-related issues, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of security, reliability, and efficiency in our data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) in real-time to detect anomalies and prevent disruptions across the data center campus.
  • Respond to alarms, perform root cause analysis, and escalate incidents to appropriate teams for swift resolution while minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues related to facility infrastructure, including BMS/EPMS protocols and integrations.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all facility operations events, incidents, and resolutions for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with data center operations, engineering, and security teams to implement proactive maintenance strategies for critical systems.
  • Perform routine health checks, performance tuning, and firmware updates on BMS and EPMS network components.
  • Develop and execute contingency plans for facility network failures, ensuring business continuity during high-impact events.
  • Analyze trends in facility system data to recommend optimizations that enhance reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for 24/7 FOC operations, providing expert guidance on facility network troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and Oracle's internal security protocols for all facility systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on facility management systems in data centers or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of BMS and EPMS protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar platforms for real-time alerting and diagnostics.
  • Experience with incident management processes, including triage, escalation, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operations center environment, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed under high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure, including power distribution, HVAC systems, and environmental controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific BMS/EPMS certifications.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar hyperscale cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of monitoring and alerting tasks.
  • Prior experience in a Facility Operations Center (FOC) or Network Operations Center (NOC) setting.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for OT (Operational Technology) networks in critical infrastructure.
