Overview

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a GenAI PhD Applied Scientist Intern to advance cutting-edge generative AI models and applications. This fully in-office role in Austin, Nashville, Santa Clara, or Seattle hubs offers hands-on experience in a world-class research team. Ideal for PhD students enrolled in university before and after the May-Aug or June-Sept 2026 internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) for OCI cloud services.
• Conduct experiments on generative AI techniques like diffusion models and transformers.
• Collaborate with engineers to deploy AI models at scale in production environments.
• Analyze model performance using advanced metrics and optimization strategies.
• Research novel approaches to multimodal AI integration for enterprise use cases.
• Contribute to open-source GenAI projects and internal toolkits.
• Design benchmarks and evaluate state-of-the-art models against OCI workloads.
• Present findings and prototypes to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
• Strong publication record in top AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and large-scale distributed training.
• Experience with generative models, RLHF, or retrieval-augmented generation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Available for full-time in-office work in Austin, Nashville, Santa Clara, or Seattle.
