Position Overview

The Internet Engineering team at OCI is responsible for ensuring the Internet edge grows ahead of capacity demand through automation, efficiency, and innovation. As a Network Developer 3, you will help design and build the software and systems that power OCI’s global Internet expansion and enable customers to connect seamlessly, securely, and at scale. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge networking technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy software solutions for automating network infrastructure at the Internet edge.
• Build scalable systems to support OCI's global Internet capacity expansion and peering operations.
• Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline network provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with network engineers and SRE teams to define requirements for software-defined networking features.
• Optimize network performance through data-driven analysis and innovative coding practices.
• Develop APIs and integrations for seamless customer connectivity to OCI services.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues using custom tools and real-time telemetry data.
• Contribute to on-call rotations to maintain high availability of Internet-facing services.
• Document software designs, architectures, and operational procedures for team knowledge sharing.
• Stay ahead of industry trends to propose and prototype new technologies for network innovation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on networking or infrastructure automation.
• Proficiency in Python or Go for building network automation tools and services.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, and DNS.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, Linux/Unix systems, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code in a production environment.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) tools like OpenDaylight or Cisco ACI.
• Familiarity with OCI, AWS, or Azure networking services and Internet peering strategies.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack for network telemetry.
• Prior experience in high-scale environments handling millions of connections per second.
• Contributions to open-source networking projects or relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP).
