Overview

The Optical Fiber Architect (IC6) will design and drive Oracle’s end-to-end optical fiber strategy for global datacenters. This role focuses on defining robust fiber architectures, selecting optimal fiber types and connectors, and ensuring best-in-class deployment practices including splicing, testing, and cable management. The Architect collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to deliver scalable, high-performance optical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive end-to-end optical fiber architectures for Oracle’s global datacenter network.
• Select appropriate fiber optic cables, connectors, and transceivers to meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Define and enforce best practices for fiber splicing, termination, and testing procedures.
• Develop cable management standards to ensure reliability and ease of maintenance.
• Collaborate with datacenter engineering teams to integrate fiber infrastructure into overall designs.
• Partner with external vendors for procurement, installation, and quality assurance of fiber deployments.
• Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization of optical networks.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex fiber optic infrastructure issues.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in optical fiber network design and deployment for large-scale datacenters.
• Deep expertise in fiber optic technologies, including DWDM, coherent optics, and ROADMs.
• Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, OTDR testing, and optical loss budgeting.
• Proven track record architecting hyperscale fiber networks with 99.999%+ reliability.
• Experience working with colocation providers and dark fiber procurement strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
