Overview

The Physician Informatics Executive supports the VA’s Federal EHR deployment and advances clinical informatics initiatives to improve care delivery and patient outcomes. This role bridges clinical expertise with health IT to optimize EHR functionality and physician workflows. The position drives innovation in data analytics and interoperability for enhanced veteran care.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical informatics strategy for VA Federal EHR implementation and optimization.
• Collaborate with physicians to design user-friendly EHR interfaces and workflows.
• Develop and deploy clinical decision support tools to improve patient safety.
• Analyze EHR data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
• Train and educate healthcare providers on informatics best practices.
• Oversee integration of third-party systems with the Federal EHR platform.
• Champion change management initiatives for EHR adoption across VA facilities.
• Represent informatics leadership in national VA health IT committees.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with active US medical license.
• 5+ years of clinical practice experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
• 3+ years in health informatics, EHR implementation, or clinical IT leadership.
• Board certification in Clinical Informatics preferred.
• Expertise with Epic or Cerner EHR systems.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR).
