Job Description
Overview
As a Principal Applied Scientist on the OCI Generative AI Science team, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product managers to research, develop, and deploy world-class speech and language technologies on OCI. You will advance ASR, TTS, S2S translation, and conversational AI, working the full lifecycle from model design to production deployment for enterprise customers. Your expertise will enhance customer experiences while upholding the highest data security and privacy standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop state-of-the-art models for ASR, TTS, S2S translation, and conversational AI.
- Lead research initiatives to innovate and optimize speech and language technologies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models into scalable production services on OCI.
- Conduct experiments, evaluate model performance, and iterate based on real-world data.
- Work closely with product managers to align AI capabilities with customer needs.
- Ensure models maintain enterprise-grade security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Mentor junior scientists and contribute to team best practices and knowledge sharing.
- Publish research findings and represent OCI at industry conferences.
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field with 8+ years of experience.
- Proven expertise in speech recognition (ASR), text-to-speech (TTS), or language models.
- Strong experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and model optimization.
- Track record of deploying AI models to production at scale.
- Excellent Python programming skills and experience with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
