Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Principal Applied Scientist with deep expertise in Responsible AI to join our fast-growing AI/ML research team. In this role, you will drive the development and evaluation of scalable safeguards for foundation models, focusing on large language or multi-modal models (LLMs/LMMs). Your work will directly influence the design, deployment, and monitoring of trustworthy AI systems across a broad range of products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the research and development of scalable safeguards for LLMs and LMMs to mitigate risks like bias, toxicity, and hallucinations.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks for measuring model safety and robustness across diverse scenarios.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Responsible AI practices into product development pipelines.
  • Conduct red-teaming exercises to identify and address vulnerabilities in foundation models.
  • Develop novel techniques for monitoring and auditing deployed AI systems in production environments.
  • Publish findings in top-tier conferences and contribute to open-source Responsible AI tools.
  • Mentor junior scientists and engineers in best practices for trustworthy AI.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI safety research and align them with Oracle's strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field with 8+ years of experience in AI/ML research.
  • Deep expertise in Responsible AI, including bias mitigation, fairness, and model safety for LLMs/LMMs.
  • Proven track record of publications in top AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, etc.).
  • Strong experience with scalable ML systems and large-scale model training/evaluation.
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and ML frameworks; experience with cloud platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and research teams.
