Overview

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff (Control Plane) to join the Network Controller team in OCI Networking. In this role, you will design and develop scalable control plane systems for high-performance cloud networking. Based in Austin, TX, you will drive innovation in OCI's networking fabric to support global cloud-scale operations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement distributed control plane services for OCI Networking.
• Design scalable APIs and protocols for network configuration and management.
• Optimize control plane performance for low-latency, high-throughput operations.
• Develop fault-tolerant systems handling millions of network state changes daily.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on next-gen SmartNIC and DPU integrations.
• Lead debugging of complex networking issues across control and data planes.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to open-source networking projects.
• Drive observability, monitoring, and automation for control plane reliability.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent with 10+ years of experience.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud networking architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Go, C++, or Rust for systems programming.
• Experience with BGP, EVPN, or SDN control plane protocols.
• Proven track record scaling systems to cloud-scale (100K+ nodes).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication abilities.
