Position Overview

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff in Oracle's Zapopan office, you will design, develop, and debug complex software for our world-class databases and applications. This senior technical role involves mentoring team members, driving engineering best practices, and delivering high-impact solutions that enhance Oracle's cloud offerings. With 7+ years of experience required, you will play a pivotal role in architecting scalable systems that serve millions of users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect complex software systems for Oracle databases and enterprise applications, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Develop high-quality, efficient code using modern programming languages and frameworks to support cloud-native solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot intricate issues in production environments, optimizing system reliability and performance.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Drive adoption of engineering best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and roadmaps.
• Lead technical initiatives to innovate and improve Oracle's database and application platforms.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for large-scale distributed systems.
• Document designs, architectures, and implementations to enable knowledge sharing across teams.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 system availability and rapid incident resolution.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in building and maintaining complex systems.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Java, C++, or Python, with experience in database technologies like Oracle DB, SQL, or NoSQL.
• Proven expertise in designing scalable, distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting in production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and drive technical best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous, high-impact challenges.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with global, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep knowledge of database internals, query optimization, and high-availability clustering.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab).
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in software engineering.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
