Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Principal Optical Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operations of our large-scale global cloud computing environment. Responsibilities

• Design and architect high-capacity optical transport networks for global OCI data centers.
• Lead deployment of DWDM systems, transponders, and ROADM technologies across international links.
• Optimize optical layer performance for ultra-low latency and maximum throughput in cloud environments.
• Perform network modeling, simulation, and capacity planning using advanced optical tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex optical layer issues in production environments.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and operations teams to integrate optical solutions into OCI infrastructure.
• Develop standards and best practices for optical engineering within OCI's global network.
• Drive innovation in coherent optics, flex-grid, and next-generation optical technologies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in optical networking engineering, with focus on large-scale data center or telecom networks.
• Deep expertise in DWDM systems, coherent optics, and optical amplification technologies.
• Strong knowledge of optical physics, fiber optics, and network design principles.
• Experience with optical network management systems (NMS/EMS) and monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in network simulation tools like OptSim, VPI, or equivalent.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, on-call environments.
