Position Overview

The Production Service Systems Administrator 3 plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of Oracle's production environments, including systems and databases that support vital business operations.

This position involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of large-scale infrastructure to minimize downtime and deliver seamless service to internal and external customers.

Based in Austin, TX, you will collaborate with engineering, development, and operations teams in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage production systems and databases using advanced tools to ensure 99.99% uptime and optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades on Linux/Unix servers and Oracle databases with minimal business disruption.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues swiftly.
  • Implement and maintain automation scripts for system provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy releases, manage capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Enforce security best practices, including vulnerability assessments, access controls, and compliance with Oracle's security standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for operational procedures, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical production incidents.
  • Analyze system metrics and performance data to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with focus on production environments and Oracle databases.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration, including scripting in Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database administration (e.g., 12c, 19c), including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Nagios, Prometheus, or Splunk.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues under pressure.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, or Azure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle certifications such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) or OCSDA.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
  • Prior experience in high-availability (HA) clustering and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Familiarity with network administration and load balancing concepts.
