Position Overview

As a Senior Cloud Operation Engineer at Oracle in India, you will play a pivotal role in operating and maintaining production environments, including cloud systems and databases that underpin critical business operations. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud technologies in a dynamic, collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage production cloud environments, including OCI instances, virtual networks, and storage systems to ensure 99.99% uptime.
• Perform proactive maintenance, patching, and upgrades on databases (Oracle DB, Exadata) and cloud infrastructure components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents in production systems, minimizing downtime and impact on business operations.
• Implement and automate operational tasks using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and OCI CLI for scalable infrastructure management.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for cloud databases and applications to optimize resource utilization.
• Collaborate with development and security teams to deploy changes via CI/CD pipelines while adhering to operational best practices.
• Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards using OCI Monitoring, Grafana, and Prometheus for real-time alerting and analytics.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement preventive measures to enhance system reliability.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, including vulnerability assessments and audit logging in cloud environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions on cloud operations best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, systems administration, or DevOps roles, with at least 2 years focused on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Strong expertise in Linux/Unix administration and database management, particularly Oracle Database 19c/21c.
• Proficiency in automation scripting (Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (OCI Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana) and log analysis (ELK Stack).
• Demonstrated ability to handle production incidents under pressure with a focus on SLAs and customer impact.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, load balancers, and firewalls in cloud environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, global team setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Cloud certifications such as OCI Foundations Associate, Architect Associate, or Operations Professional.
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and serverless computing in OCI.
• Familiarity with Exadata Cloud Service and Autonomous Database operations.
• Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management.
• Prior experience in a 24x7 production support environment with on-call rotation.
