Senior Embedded Diagnostic Software Engineer

Job Description

Overview

Develop embedded diagnostics software to test and ensure the reliability and performance of Oracle's next-generation cloud servers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and validate diagnostic tools for server hardware and firmware. Drive innovation in diagnostics to support scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure in Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded diagnostic software for server platforms using C/C++ and low-level programming.
  • Implement test suites for hardware components including CPUs, memory, storage, and networking.
  • Integrate diagnostics with Oracle's cloud server firmware and management systems.
  • Debug and resolve complex hardware-software issues in real-time environments.
  • Optimize diagnostic algorithms for performance, power efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define diagnostic requirements and interfaces.
  • Automate diagnostic workflows and create reporting tools for failure analysis.
  • Contribute to open-source diagnostic projects and internal knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded software development for server or enterprise hardware.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, assembly, and Linux kernel development.
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware architecture (x86/ARM, PCIe, DDR, NVMe).
  • Experience with diagnostic tools, JTAG debugging, and firmware protocols (IPMI, Redfish).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments.
