Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Inpatient HIM Coder to join our dynamic healthcare information management team. This role bridges clinical data and technology, developing cutting-edge AI solutions for medical coding and billing. The successful candidate will provide expert insights to enhance product development.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex inpatient medical records for accurate coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG methodologies.
• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes with high accuracy to support billing, reimbursement, and compliance.
• Collaborate with clinical and development teams to validate AI-driven coding algorithms and models.
• Provide expert feedback on coding guidelines, nuances, and edge cases to improve AI accuracy.
• Mentor junior coders and conduct quality audits on coded records.
• Stay current with CMS, AHIMA, and industry coding updates and regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency in coding workflows.
• Generate detailed reports on coding trends, discrepancies, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of inpatient coding experience with RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credential.
• Expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRGs, and inpatient coding guidelines.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation.
• Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner) and coding software.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex, high-acuity cases accurately.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; remote work capable.
