Position Overview

As a Senior Member of Technical Staff in Oracle's Austin office, you will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug sophisticated software programs for databases, applications, tools, and networks. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects within Oracle's cloud infrastructure, collaborating with elite engineering teams to deliver mission-critical solutions. You will play a key role in advancing Oracle's product portfolio, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability for global customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect scalable software components for Oracle databases, applications, and cloud tools
  • Develop high-performance code using Java, C++, or Python to support enterprise-grade systems
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in distributed systems, networks, and database environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and implement robust solutions
  • Optimize software for performance, reliability, and security in cloud-native architectures
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in software development
  • Integrate new features into existing Oracle products, ensuring seamless compatibility and minimal downtime
  • Analyze system performance metrics and proactively identify areas for improvement
  • Contribute to open-source projects or internal tools that enhance Oracle's development ecosystem
  • Participate in agile sprints, delivering iterative improvements to production systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development for databases, applications, or networks
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or Go
  • Proven experience designing and debugging distributed systems or cloud-based applications
  • Deep knowledge of database technologies, including SQL, NoSQL, or Oracle Database
  • Experience with networking protocols, Linux/Unix systems, and performance optimization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex technical challenges
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other major cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Advanced knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful API design
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in software engineering
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks or big data tools like Apache Spark
