Position Overview

As a Senior Oracle DBA in Oracle's Customer Success Services (CSS) Tech Delivery team, you will provide advanced technical expertise to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot complex Oracle Database environments for enterprise customers. This role focuses on delivering high-impact database solutions, ensuring maximum performance, availability, and security in mission-critical systems. Based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, you will collaborate with global teams to support strategic customer engagements and drive Oracle's database adoption in the cloud era.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability Oracle Database environments, including RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata systems.
• Perform advanced performance tuning and optimization using AWR reports, ADDM, and SQL tuning methodologies.
• Lead database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including critical production incidents and root cause analysis.
• Implement and manage database security features, such as encryption, auditing, and role-based access controls.
• Develop automation scripts using PL/SQL, shell scripting, and Oracle tools to streamline database operations.
• Collaborate with customer teams and Oracle product development to deliver customized database solutions.
• Conduct health checks, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring for customer database landscapes.
• Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to knowledge-sharing through documentation and training sessions.
• Support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services, including Autonomous Database deployments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
• Expertise in Oracle Database 12c, 19c, and 21c, including installation, configuration, and administration.
• Proven experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
• Strong skills in SQL and PL/SQL development, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems and shell scripting for database automation.
• Ability to work in 24x7 on-call rotations for production support and incident resolution.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with enterprise monitoring tools like OEM.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification in Oracle Database 19c or higher.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Autonomous Database.
• Familiarity with multitenant architecture, PDBs, and advanced compression techniques.
• Knowledge of Java, Python, or Ansible for database orchestration and DevOps practices.
• Prior experience in Customer Success Services (CSS) or consulting roles with Fortune 500 clients.
