Overview

As a Senior Principal Data Center Engineer - Mechanical Infrastructure at Oracle in Austin, TX, you will focus on OCI data center mechanical systems. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, and Software teams to develop optimized thermal solutions for the entire data center stack. Partnering with internal and external stakeholders, you will deliver next-generation world-class hardware and data centers.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mechanical infrastructure for high-density OCI data centers, including cooling systems and airflow management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal solutions across hardware, electrical, and software disciplines.
• Conduct thermal modeling, simulations, and performance analysis to ensure efficient data center operations.
• Lead the development and deployment of innovative cooling technologies for next-generation data centers.
• Work with vendors and partners to specify, procure, and validate mechanical components and systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
• Develop standards, best practices, and documentation for mechanical infrastructure design and maintenance.
• Support capacity planning and scalability assessments for OCI's global data center footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; PhD preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in data center mechanical design, cooling systems, or thermal management.
• Deep expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), heat transfer, and HVAC systems.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale data center projects with hyperscale providers.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with electrical, software, and operations teams.
• Experience with liquid cooling, immersion cooling, or advanced air-cooling technologies.
