Overview

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) seeks a Senior Principal Software Developer (IC5) for its Networking organization, specializing in DDoS and Network Security. In this strategic role, you will architect, build, and enhance solutions to protect the reliability and availability of OCI’s global cloud services. The ideal candidate excels at cross-team collaboration, driving technical direction, and delivering large-scale, robust software systems in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable DDoS mitigation and network security systems for OCI's global infrastructure.
• Lead development of high-performance software to detect, analyze, and block sophisticated DDoS attacks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement network security strategies and features.
• Drive technical direction for large-scale distributed systems handling massive traffic volumes.
• Optimize networking protocols and security algorithms for low-latency, high-availability cloud services.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to maintain exceptional code quality standards.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues in real-time networking environments.
• Contribute to open-source projects and represent OCI in industry security forums.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience in networking, security, or distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in DDoS mitigation technologies, network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, HTTP/3), and security best practices.
• Proven track record building large-scale, fault-tolerant systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or OCI).
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Go with experience in performance-critical networking code.
• Experience with Linux kernel networking, eBPF, DPDK, or similar high-performance technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous, high-stakes technical challenges.
