Position Overview

As a Senior Production Service Systems Administrator in Oracle Cloud Services, you will play a critical role in maintaining the availability, scalability, and efficiency of our production systems. You will handle customer incident tickets, deploy software in test and production environments, perform rigorous testing, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for issues. This position requires strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex infrastructure challenges and escalate when necessary, ensuring seamless operation of Oracle's large-scale distributed systems while adhering to company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle Cloud Services production environments
  • Handle and resolve customer incident tickets promptly to minimize downtime
  • Deploy software releases and updates in test and production systems with precision
  • Perform comprehensive testing on test and production systems to ensure reliability
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and document findings for continuous improvement
  • Escalate complex issues beyond scope to development teams while providing detailed context
  • Manage Oracle standards and methodologies for large-scale distributed systems operations
  • Facilitate service capacity planning, demand forecasting, and resource optimization
  • Analyze software performance metrics and tune systems for optimal efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and scalability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration for production environments
  • Strong expertise in Linux/Unix systems administration and troubleshooting
  • Proven experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Hands-on experience with incident management, ticketing systems, and RCA processes
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl for automation
  • Experience deploying and managing software in high-availability distributed systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in 24/7 operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle database administration and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager or Prometheus
  • Certification in Oracle Cloud or relevant AWS/Azure cloud platforms
  • Prior experience in capacity planning and demand forecasting for cloud services
