Position Overview

Our AI and Applied Science team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Engineer for our AI Data platform to lead innovation in agentic systems, efficient LLM modeling, and human-in-the-loop experiences. In this role, you will drive cutting-edge research and development to build scalable AI solutions that integrate seamlessly with Oracle's enterprise ecosystem. You will collaborate with top researchers and engineers to push the boundaries of AI capabilities, delivering impactful technologies that empower customers globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of agentic AI systems that autonomously handle complex tasks in enterprise environments
• Research and implement efficient large language model (LLM) architectures optimized for performance and scalability on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
• Build and refine human-in-the-loop interfaces to enhance AI decision-making and user interaction in real-world applications
• Prototype and iterate on novel AI algorithms, conducting rigorous experiments to validate performance improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and data scientists, to translate research into production-ready features
• Optimize AI models for low-latency inference and resource efficiency in distributed computing environments
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps for the AI Data platform
• Publish findings, present at internal reviews, and contribute to patents advancing Oracle's AI portfolio
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and integrate relevant advancements into platform capabilities
• Ensure AI solutions adhere to enterprise-grade security, privacy, and ethical standards

Required Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML research or engineering, with a focus on LLMs or generative AI
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Proven track record of developing and deploying scalable AI systems in production environments
• Experience with agentic systems, reinforcement learning, or multi-agent frameworks
• Solid understanding of model optimization techniques, including quantization, distillation, and efficient inference
• Demonstrated ability to conduct experiments, analyze results, and iterate on research prototypes
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD with publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
• Experience with human-in-the-loop AI systems or interactive learning paradigms
• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, distributed systems, or enterprise data platforms
• Background in natural language processing, multimodal AI, or retrieval-augmented generation
• Prior experience leading small research teams or contributing to open-source AI projects
