Position Overview

As a Senior Software Developer on the OCI Compute team, you will play a pivotal role in building and enhancing the foundational platform for hosting bare metal and virtual machines across customer and service enclaves. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-scale, mission-critical systems that support Oracle's entire cloud ecosystem. You will collaborate with talented engineers to deliver reliable, performant compute services that drive customer success and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software components for OCI Compute services managing bare metal and virtual machines.
• Implement high-performance systems to support customer enclaves, internal Fusion Apps, and OCI service hosting.
• Optimize compute infrastructure for reliability, availability, and low-latency performance at massive scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine technical requirements and architecture for new features.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using modern development practices and tools.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure production-ready software quality.
• Integrate compute services with other OCI components, including networking, storage, and security layers.
• Monitor and improve system performance through profiling, automation, and capacity planning.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support live production environments and rapid issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience in building distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, C++, or Python.
• Deep experience with Linux/Unix systems, virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, containers), and networking fundamentals.
• Proven track record of developing and deploying scalable, fault-tolerant services in production environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges under tight deadlines.
• Experience with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, or other major cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with bare metal provisioning, hypervisors, or high-performance computing workloads.
• Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments, including enclave isolation techniques.
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in distributed systems.
