Position Overview

Compute is a core service of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), providing the foundational platform for hosting external customers, internal customers like Fusion Apps, and all OCI services. We operate services to manage Bare Metal and Virtual Machines for Customer and Service Enclaves. As a Senior Software Developer, you will design, build, and optimize high-scale distributed systems that ensure reliability, performance, and security at exabyte levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant software components for OCI Compute services managing Bare Metal and Virtual Machines.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance APIs and services to support customer and internal enclave workloads.
  • Optimize system performance and resource utilization in large-scale distributed environments handling millions of instances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, architecture, and deployment strategies for compute infrastructure.
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Debug and resolve complex production issues in high-availability systems with minimal downtime.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and best practices.
  • Drive technical initiatives to improve service reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to on-call rotations to support live production services and rapid incident response.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote knowledge sharing within the Compute team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience in building distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, C++, or Python.
  • Deep experience with Linux/Unix systems, networking, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proven track record of developing and operating high-scale, mission-critical services.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous, complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) or serverless computing.
  • Familiarity with OCI, AWS, Azure, or other major cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of hardware acceleration, GPU computing, or bare metal provisioning.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in distributed systems.
