Position Overview

The Site Reliability Developer 3 role on the OCI Data Service Team focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical data platforms in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. You will develop automation tools, monitor production systems, and collaborate with engineering teams to maintain 99.99% uptime for global cloud services. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced environment, contributing directly to Oracle's cloud dominance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes for OCI data services.
• Design, implement, and optimize monitoring systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Oracle's observability stack to ensure service reliability.
• Perform root cause analysis on production incidents and implement preventive measures to enhance system resilience.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability best practices into CI/CD pipelines and software releases.
• Manage on-call rotations, responding to alerts and resolving issues in real-time to minimize downtime.
• Build and scale infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and OCI-native services for high-availability data workloads.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for data services to support growing customer demands.
• Document operational procedures, runbooks, and post-mortems to foster knowledge sharing across the team.
• Participate in disaster recovery drills and chaos engineering experiments to validate system robustness.
• Mentor junior engineers on SRE principles and contribute to team-wide reliability initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably OCI, AWS, or GCP, including container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Expertise in Linux/Unix systems administration, networking, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems in production environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during on-call scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, particularly data platforms like Object Storage or Database services.
• Familiarity with chaos engineering tools like Chaos Monkey or Gremlin.
• Knowledge of database technologies such as Oracle Database, MySQL, or NoSQL systems.
• Certification in cloud platforms (e.g., OCI Architect, AWS DevOps) or SRE-related credentials.
• Prior experience in a large-scale, multi-tenant cloud environment with global traffic patterns.
