Position Overview

The Software Developer 3 role on the Operations and Management (O&M) team focuses on building a full-stack cloud observability platform that integrates telemetry, modern analytics, and automation to monitor and manage IT assets across OCI, AWS, Azure, on-premises environments, and Kubernetes clusters. You will write high-performance code to power monitoring and management of large-scale OCI Compute instances, hybrid systems, and multi-cloud deployments. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects that enhance operational efficiency and reliability for Oracle's global customer base in a collaborative, innovative environment in Nashville, TN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable backend services for real-time monitoring of OCI Compute instances and Kubernetes clusters
  • Develop telemetry collection pipelines that integrate data from OCI, AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems
  • Build automation tools for proactive management and remediation of IT assets across hybrid cloud environments
  • Optimize analytics engines to process and analyze large volumes of observability data for anomaly detection
  • Collaborate with product managers and SRE teams to define and refine technical requirements for observability features
  • Write clean, maintainable code following Oracle's best practices, with comprehensive unit and integration tests
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production monitoring systems under high-scale conditions
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and security standards
  • Contribute to the evolution of the observability platform by prototyping new features and performance improvements
  • Document technical designs, APIs, and deployment procedures for team and customer use

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with backend systems
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Go, or Python for building scalable cloud services
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, or Azure, including compute and container services
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and observability principles (metrics, logs, traces)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration in production environments
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases for handling high-volume telemetry data
  • Demonstrated ability to write secure, performant code with a focus on test-driven development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services and SDKs
  • Familiarity with modern observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
  • Knowledge of stream processing frameworks such as Apache Kafka or Flink
  • Prior work on monitoring or management systems for large-scale hybrid/multi-cloud environments
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in cloud observability domains
