Position Overview

As a Software Developer 3 (Senior Member of Technical Staff) in our Seattle office, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building high-performance cloud services for Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that support millions of users globally, leveraging modern technologies to solve complex scalability challenges. You will collaborate with elite engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and innovative solutions that drive Oracle's leadership in the cloud market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance software components for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services
  • Develop and maintain microservices using Java, Go, or Python, ensuring robustness and fault tolerance
  • Collaborate with product managers and architects to define technical requirements and system architectures
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to maintain code quality and reliability
  • Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems environments
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold best practices and mentor junior developers
  • Integrate security best practices and compliance standards into software development lifecycle
  • Contribute to on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 service availability and rapid incident resolution
  • Experiment with emerging technologies like AI/ML to enhance cloud service capabilities
  • Document technical designs and APIs to facilitate knowledge sharing across teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience in building enterprise-grade applications
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, Python, or C++
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code with solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle DB, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL solutions
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and agile development methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience developing for public cloud platforms like OCI, AWS, or Azure
  • Knowledge of container orchestration and serverless computing paradigms
  • Prior work on high-availability systems handling large-scale traffic
  • Contributions to open-source projects or relevant GitHub repositories
