Overview

As an L7 Proxy Platform Engineer (Software Developer 3), you will design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable Layer 7 proxy platforms for secure application delivery in Oracle’s cloud and enterprise environments. You’ll support high-scale microservices architectures with advanced traffic management and security policies. Drive automation to enhance operational efficiency across global deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable Layer 7 proxy solutions for microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Implement advanced traffic routing, load balancing, and rate limiting policies.
• Develop and deploy security features including WAF, SSL termination, and authentication proxies.
• Optimize proxy performance for high-throughput, low-latency environments.
• Automate proxy deployment, configuration, and monitoring using Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate proxies into service meshes and API gateways.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in distributed systems.
• Contribute to open-source proxy projects and internal platform evolution.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience; 5+ years in software development.
• Expertise in Layer 7 proxies (Envoy, NGINX, HAProxy) and service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Strong proficiency in Go, Rust, or C++ for high-performance networking.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/HTTP/HTTPS protocols, TLS, and network security.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven track record of building scalable distributed systems in production.
