Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer 4 to join our Networking Data Plane team in India, ready for a new challenge in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize high-performance networking data plane technologies critical to Oracle's cloud infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work on scalable, mission-critical systems that power enterprise-grade networking solutions, collaborating with top-tier engineers to deliver innovative features and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance data plane components for Oracle's cloud networking infrastructure using modern networking protocols and technologies.
• Develop and optimize packet processing pipelines, including eBPF, DPDK, and SmartNIC integrations for low-latency, high-throughput performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine technical requirements for networking features in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in C/C++, Rust, or Go, ensuring adherence to Oracle's coding standards and best practices.
• Perform debugging, profiling, and performance tuning of data plane software to meet stringent scalability and reliability targets.
• Integrate data plane solutions with control plane systems, including SDN controllers and orchestration platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure robust and reliable software delivery.
• Contribute to the evolution of networking data plane architecture, proposing innovations for next-generation cloud networking.
• Monitor and analyze production traffic patterns to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Mentor junior developers and share expertise in networking data plane technologies across the team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on networking or systems programming.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust for high-performance, low-level systems development.
• Deep understanding of networking data plane concepts, including TCP/IP stack, packet forwarding, and programmable data planes (e.g., P4).
• Hands-on experience with data plane acceleration technologies such as DPDK, FD.io VPP, or eBPF/XDP.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with debugging complex, multi-threaded networking applications.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team environment.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel networking internals and tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, and perf.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SmartNIC programming (e.g., NVIDIA BlueField, Intel IPU) or FPGA-based data planes.
• Knowledge of cloud-native networking in environments like Kubernetes, OCI, or AWS.
• Contributions to open-source networking projects (e.g., FD.io, Cilium, or P4 runtime).
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines for rapid software iteration.
• Understanding of security aspects in data plane development, including DDoS mitigation and encryption offloads.
