Position Overview

As a Software Developer 4 in Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Platform team, you will define and develop software for core business functionality, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. You will play an active role in shaping standard practices and procedures, collaborating with engineering teams to evolve the OCI platform. This position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that support millions of users worldwide, in a dynamic environment based in Nashville, TN.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable software components for core OCI Platform functionality
• Develop high-quality code using modern programming languages and frameworks
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to define technical requirements and specifications
• Optimize system performance and ensure reliability through rigorous testing and debugging
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and adherence to best practices
• Define and evolve engineering standards, processes, and procedures for the team
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in a fast-paced cloud environment
• Integrate services with other OCI components and third-party systems
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
• Mentor junior developers and promote continuous improvement in development practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience in building distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Java, Go, Python, or C++ with experience in cloud-native development
• Deep understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns and algorithms
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
• Proven track record of delivering high-scale, reliable software in production environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex, distributed systems
• Strong communication skills and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience developing for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or other major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems
• Knowledge of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in software engineering
