Overview

As an L7 Proxy Platform Engineer (Software Developer 4), you will design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable Layer 7 proxy platforms for secure application delivery in Oracle’s cloud and enterprise environments. You will support high-scale microservices architectures with advanced traffic management and security policies. Drive automation to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable Layer 7 proxy solutions for microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Implement advanced traffic routing, load balancing, and caching mechanisms.
• Develop and enforce security policies including WAF, TLS termination, and authentication.
• Optimize proxy performance for high-throughput, low-latency environments.
• Build automation tools for proxy deployment, configuration, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate proxies into service meshes and APIs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and reliability issues.
• Contribute to open-source proxy projects and stay current with industry standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development with Layer 7 proxies (NGINX, Envoy, HAProxy).
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Go, C++, or Rust for high-performance networking applications.
• Deep knowledge of HTTP/2, gRPC, TLS, and service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle production-scale systems.
