The OCI Compute Control Plane service is responsible for provisioning and managing all bare metal and virtual machine compute instances, providing the foundation upon which OCI's cloud is built. As a Software Developer 5 in Seattle, WA, you will design, develop, and optimize high-scale distributed systems critical to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant services for compute provisioning and management.
• Develop and maintain control plane APIs handling millions of daily requests.
• Optimize system performance and reliability for bare metal and VM instances.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features.
• Write clean, testable code and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in distributed environments.
• Drive technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to on-call rotation for service reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience in cloud or distributed systems.
• Expertise in Java, Go, or C++ with strong CS fundamentals.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and large-scale systems.
• Proven track record of building highly available, scalable services.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with observability tools.
